I want a new weird obsession. I had never really had one as a teenager. Overcompensating again, I guess. Let's say vampires, or anime, or - why not? - vampire anime? Never had one - how weird is that, anyway?
Just stumbled upon a sound track from a vampire movie from 4 to 6 years back, I guess. Setting aside the questionable nature of the vampires, the core of the legend is quite... unsettling. First of, vampires are sociopathes. Yet somewhy they are worshipped. Why on Earth, really? Yet I wasn't buffled by this. I was buffled by the tendency of keeping their companions alive. Why on Earth, again? But that wasn't my question either, to be honest. The song goes "Did you think it's cool to walk right up, to take my life and fuck it up?" It also says "I see hell in your eyes."
And you know what made me stop right there and hit replay? The vampire sings it. Made me kinda think of a point that never hit me before - the point of a potential victim of a... curse? malady? In any case, he says directly that touching him/her (whoever the song is adressed to), makes the vampire die inside. Hell in her eyes, human eyes, makes him die inside. Yet he could not kill her. Or him. I do not explicitly remember.
A powerful creature is hurting. Yet he has a power to eliminate the threat to his emotional unbalance. If the vampires existed at all, I bet this would be their messsage to us: "Walking, waiting, alone without a care, I'm hoping and hating the things that I can't bare. Did you think it's cool to walk right up, to take my life, and fuck it up?" How many times do you recall someone walking into your life and fucking it up forever? I can recall so many. Yet.
What I really wanted to say is that this suddenly made sense. Out of all the vampire legends that came across my sight over the years - and, mind you, I live practically in the homeland of vampire legends - these few words finally made sense. I can relate.
